Creating A Cyanotype
|
What Is A Cyanotype?Cyanotype is a photographic photographic blue print. We use cyan paper which is blue paper that prints the objects onto the paper when exposed to ultraviolet light. The image is then washed in water to develop the image further. Then it is left to dry.
Anna AtkinsOne famous Cyanotype artist is Anna Atkins. Anna Atkins was a English Botanist and Photographer. She was the first woman to create a photograph. She created albums of cyanotype photogenic drawings of her botanical specimens. She learned the cyanotype printing method through its inventor, the astronomer and scientist Sir John Herschel, a family friend.
Above are some cyanotypes produced by Anna Atkins.

My First Cyanotype.
There isn't mush I can say about my cyanotype apart from my first cyanotype didn't go to well.
There was a few problems. When we went outside, I didn't realise that once we had put down the objects we weren't allowed to move them at all. I think that is where mine went wrong. Because I moved my objects a couple of times, the didn't show up well (as you can see below), when I rinsed it with water afterwards. As you can see only a few of my objects have shown up. You can sort of see the safety pin and the ring shapes trying to come up but they still aren't to clear.
It would of worked better next time if I left the objects alone, once I had laid them out. This way most of cyanotypes would show up clearly.
